Production Manager - Milling

Operational responsibility and accountability for production in Milling operation.  Responsible for setting the vision and to achieve business objectives while building a positive plant culture. Additionally, provide leadership and  implement organizational strategies in production area(s) to meet safety, quality and production design goals in addition to cost objectives, product/technology development and promoting a strong team atmosphere.  

Responsibilities:

  • Actively lead and support the plant safety programs;
  • Establish systems to ensure conformance to quality requirements;
  • Manage production operations to meet product demand requirements, exceeding design parameters, and facilitating product/technology development opportunities;
  • Actively pursue ways to meet site yield expectations;
  • Actively pursue ways to achieve cost objectives established by the business; and
  • Create an environment that promotes positive teamwork and accomplishments.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of costs and financial controls;
  • Demonstrated ability to think ahead, plan, prepare and execute action plans to achieve results;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively take action to solve problems while exhibiting sound judgment and successful stress tolerance;
  • Demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results;
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance performance of direct reports and develop personnel for broader organizational opportunities;
  • Demonstrated ability to measure an employee’s performance to goals;
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, employee relations, quality, productivity and cost;
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload while paying attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a strong team player;
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing; and
  • Demonstrated skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).

Education/Experience: 

  • BS Engineering;
  • 5+ years in an engineering or supervisory role; and
  • Lean, Six Sigma and/or Continuous Improvement.
